STEP Program

The Supported Transition and Engagement Program (STEP) commits Metro, lead agency Bridge Housing, and the Women’s Housing Company to house and support 90 people who have experienced long term homelessness by 2022.

Nine rough sleepers already have a roof over their heads with Bridge providing housing for 4 people, Metro housing 3 people and Women’s Housing Company housing 2 people as at 15 October 2018.

STEP is funded by the NSW Government which has committed $12million dollars to this housing first model that makes safe and permanent housing the priority for people experiencing homelessness. NEAMI National will provide wrap around support including assistance to help ensure STEP participants can sustain a positive tenancy.

STEP buildings on our earlier involvement in providing safe, secure long term housing to rough sleepers in the inner city through the Platform 70 initiative (also in partnership with lead agency Bridge Housing) and through the Connect 100 program jointly funded by the NSW government and the City of Sydney Council.
