A New Approach to Housing Assistance
On 27 April 2010, a new program called Housing Pathways was introduced to make it simpler for people to apply for housing assistance.
Previously, if you applied for housing assistance, you would have to lodge an application with Housing NSW and with individual community housing providers. Each organisation had their own waiting list and if you wanted to change your details or find out where your application was up to, you would need to separately contact each organisation.
To make the process easier and fairer, Housing NSW, community housing providers and the Aboriginal Housing Office have worked together to set up a combined application system under Housing Pathways.
You now need to complete only a single application form to apply for housing managed by Housing NSW, participating community housing providers and the Aboriginal Housing Office. If you indicated you were willing to accept housing from any of the Housing Pathways providers, you may get an offer of housing from Housing NSW, a community housing provider or the Aboriginal Housing Office.
